Redesign proposal for the DentSpark.com home page: a dark graphite header with an orange accent, the headline “Shrink large dents. Save the paint.”, price and buttons next to a photo of the stabiliser
My redesign proposal, top of the home page (a mockup awaiting approval, not on the live site). The full proposal and the original design are further down.

The brief

DentSpark sells tools for paintless dent repair (PDR): the DX80 dent stabiliser and three accessories. The shop has run on Wix since 2019 and is not my work. The owner gave me collaborator access to the site. My part is analysing, fixing and redesigning the existing site.

Done and live: the product and SEO fixes. The FAQ draft and the redesign are waiting for the owner; the redesign is not approved or published yet.

The analysis found typos in the English product descriptions (“stabillizer”, “powerfull”, “roofpannels”), a returns policy pointing to an old domain, an unfinished rebrand from DentArc to DentSpark that reached even the main product’s URL, missing meta descriptions and H1 headings, and a look that had not changed since 2019.

Constraints

  • The Wix platform and a collaborator role. The site is not mine; it cannot be duplicated or moved, and some shop settings are out of a collaborator’s reach. Product content and SEO can be changed through the Wix API; the design of a classic Wix Editor site cannot – it only changes by clicking in the editor.
  • The shop is selling and must not break. Prices, stock, variants, photos and working page URLs stay untouched.
  • Visible copy and terms are the owner’s call. They do not change without his consent, which is why the home page still shows the old DentArc name in places.
  • Publish in one go. API writes go live immediately, bypassing the editor’s draft. The redesign is therefore prepared in the draft and goes live with a single publish, not piece by piece.

Decisions

  1. A backup before the first change. A local copy of the pages, a shop data export through the API and a restore point in the site history.
  2. Fixes through the API, not by hand. All 4 products have descriptions without typos, consistent sections on the product, returns and shipping, the DentSpark brand and their own SEO title and description. The main product’s URL changed from dentarc-dx80-… to dentspark-dx80-…. Wix does not create a redirect when a URL is changed through the API, so the 301 was added through the redirects API and verified on the live site. On top of that: meta descriptions for the shop page and three policy pages.
  3. Every change next to its original. A “before / after / why” document for the owner covers each edit, so any of them can be reviewed and reverted.
  4. An FAQ from real questions, not guesses. After filtering out spam, 151 contact-form messages (2019–2026) boil down to 15 recurring questions: aluminium panels, power, shipping outside the EU, a demo video, invoices for companies. Whatever product data can support is answered; the owner fills in the rest.
  5. Redesign in place, no migration (in progress). The shop, orders and domain stay on Wix; only the look changes. The proposal: a dark “workshop” style with graphite and a single orange reserved for actions, Barlow Condensed headings, a menu cut from 7 items to 5, a new FAQ page and four implementation phases. Two home-page mockups are ready: A keeps the original copy with the new design, B has new copy.
  6. Decisions for the owner without jargon. An interactive document with eight questions (A or B, social accounts, video, FAQ answers and more) whose answers are sent back by email.
DentSpark.com home page in its original design: dark background, chrome logo, a Free EU shipping badge and a strip of DX80 photos

Outcome

What Value
Products fixed 4 of 4: copy, returns and shipping info, SEO title and description
Redirect old DX80 URL → new one via 301, still working on 3 Oct 2026
Changes to prices, stock, variants and photos 0
FAQ draft in progress: 15 questions from 151 customer messages, answers pending with the owner
Redesign in progress: plan, mockups A and B, an editor guide; not approved or published

Status on 3 Oct 2026: the product, SEO and redirect fixes have been live on dentspark.com since 8 Sep 2026. The site has its original look. The redesign is a proposal in progress; if the owner approves it, it goes live in one go, with a single publish.

What I do differently today

The product fixes went straight to the live site through the API; the “all at once” rule came afterwards. Today I agree on the publishing mode with the owner before the first write, and I check the redirect right after every URL change, because Wix does not create one when the change comes through the API.

Technology and process

Wix Editor and Wix Stores; the Wix REST API (products, SEO tags, redirects); curl to verify the live site; headless Chrome for before-state screenshots; HTML mockups and documents for the owner.
